Data Breaches Double Despite Confidence Growing
While 91% of firm leaders report confidence in their cybersecurity measures (up from 88% in 2025), cyberattacks continue to evolve in complexity and scale.
Law firms reported data breach/exfiltration rates from cybercrimes such as physical breaches, malicious insider action, suboptimal IT configuration, or MFA bypass attacks more than doubled from 6% in 2025 to 13% in 2026.

AI Use Skyrocketed, But Training Did Not
92% of firms are currently using AI
92% of firms are currently using AI, creating a supermajority, a near-consensus. AI skepticism has collapsed, and resistance has evaporated, with legal research leading as the top use, with 57% implementation.
Despite growing usage, only 41% of firms are investing in AI training, highlighting the gaps and growing risks.
Productivity Dominates IT Investment
70% of firms cite increasing productivity and efficiency as the main driver for new and upgraded IT in 2026 (up from 66% in 2025).
Partners and Firm Administrators/Executive Directors make up the majority of those (62%) who responded that productivity was the main reason to enhance their IT in 2026. Technology investments are highly pragmatic, prioritizing tools that reduce friction for attorneys and staff.
