Darragh Fitzpatrick, Partner & EVP, explains what Desktop as a Service, or DaaS, is and the benefits of it.

DaaS moves all of your applications, servers, and services to the cloud environment. A great feature is that a DaaS cloud desktop can be accessible from any location and on any device, including a Mac, PC, laptop, tablet or a smartphone. The experience is the exact same across platforms, so you can work seamlessly and productively. Specific applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Tabs3, and Worldox are just some of the applications that work the same in a DaaS environment.

The tasks of printing, scanning, and uploading files in a DaaS cloud environment is the same as if you were doing it on a desktop. Hot-desking or hoteling has become a popular form of working, and is very easy to do in the DaaS cloud.

Firms deal with sensitive data and information. A DaaS cloud environment is safe and secure, and provides the protection needed for this information. Since each person is accessing their desktop no matter where they work from, they are always working securely.
